Strengthening the workforce in Kennett Square

LCH’s Director of Human Resources, Education, and Workforce Development, Margarita Garay, has a very important job.

She is at the crossroads of local businesses in need of good employees, and low-income clients seeking employment. By getting to know each employer and each client well, she is able to act as a “matchmaker” and identify just the right person for the job.

Pietro Industries, a mushroom company in Kennett Square, was one such business. They had been searching for a strong candidate to fill the position of quality control coordinator, who oversees food safety and employee safety. Margarita reviewed her list of clients seeking work, and suggested that a young man named Diego apply for the position. She helped him to submit his job application and prepare for the interview, and he ultimately got the job.  Diego has been with Pietro Industries for a year now, and both Diego and his employer are thrilled with the match.

LCH is the only organization in southern Chester County offering this kind of intensive, personalized services for both job-seekers and employers. In this fast-growing community, more than 150 local employers greatly appreciate our assistance with finding reliable, qualified staff; and our clients are very grateful for Margarita’s compassionate, encouraging approach to helping them plan their next career step. The result is a stronger, more prosperous community for everyone.
