Victoria’s Team at LCH

* This article discusses topics related to suicide and mental health, which may be distressing for some readers. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is available.

Since 2020, Victoria has relied on LCH for her primary care, finding not just medical support but a community that truly cares about her well-being. Managing both her physical and mental health requires daily attention—she takes about 12 medications each day to stay stable. For Victoria, trust in her healthcare team is essential, and she has found that trust in her provider, Dr. Valentina Rutolo.

“My current provider, Dr. Rutolo, is very good at providing services. You can talk to her, and she’s very careful with prescribing medications. I trust in her because I am feeling better health-wise, mentally, and physically.”

Mental health is a priority for Victoria. With no close family nearby, she works hard and stays busy and is working to take care of herself. Victoria took time to acknowledge facing several mental health challenges, including past suicide attempts, and emphasized the importance of support and healing.

“I used to have appointments once every two weeks because my mental health is very important to me. I don’t have family here, I don’t have a husband or kids, and I work a lot—that’s how I keep myself busy. I try to take care of my mental health.”

Beyond her provider, Victoria has built a strong relationship with Carolyn, an LCH nurse who ensures she understands every medical decision.

“Carolyn is so good; she calls me and explains things to me. She gives me recommendations, and I’m also a nurse, so I expect that kind of service because it’s educational.”

She has also received support from the Social Assistance team, particularly Daphne, who helped her navigate a complicated mammogram referral.

“Daphne was so great and so skilled. She explained everything to me and worked so hard to make it happen. I was so impressed by her—I thought to myself, she is the perfect person for this job.”

For Victoria, LCH isn’t just a healthcare center—it’s a place that offers support, resources, and peace of mind. “I like this place so much. The fact that I’m able to not worry if I need something, like an x-ray—they set me up. It’s amazing how much they work around the individual to make sure they get the tests and to make it easier.”

From primary care to social assistance, and even the new pharmacy, Victoria sees firsthand how LCH goes above and beyond for its patients.
