Fresh Air for Fresh Fruit

For the past decade, Carmen Garcia has been a dedicated patient of LCH, finding support within the community health center. Living in Oxford, Carmen appreciates the convenience of having LCH right in her town, making it easy for her to walk to appointments and access the care she needs.

“I’m very comfortable here. I come walking and the walks help me,” said Carmen.

Carmen actively participates in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, a collaborative effort between LCH and the Chester County Food Bank. The program provides her with access to fresh produce, which she can easily walk to pick up. This initiative has significantly contributed to her health, allowing her to enjoy nutritious food and improve her overall wellness.

She states, “I feel comfortable with LCH here. I always say, ‘I hope they never get rid of LCH’ because we’ll have to travel too far. Thank God, we have you here now! I hope you’re here forever.”

Carmen speaks highly of LCH to all her friends at work, often sharing how much the center has helped her through difficult times. From food security to overall wellness LCH has been there to assist her.

Carmen uses many of LCH’s services including primary care and integrated behavioral health at the Oxford location. Recently family situations started to cause stress which took a toll on her mental health and blood pressure.

Carmen states, “I started feeling depressed — I felt so bad. I shared that with my provider and now I’m taking medication.”

Feeling overwhelmed, Carmen turned to LCH for help. Her providers offered her a place of support, helping her navigate her feelings of depression and manage her blood pressure. With their guidance, she started to see improvements in her health and well-being.

“They attend to my needs very well. I know the girls up front, and they know me. They are very nice to me every time I come, and my provider attends to me very well… I tell people that LCH takes good care of people,” she states.

Carmen is grateful for the support she receives from LCH. The convenient location, compassionate care, and access to help have made a profound difference in her life. Thanks to LCH, Carmen has found a path to better health and a stronger sense of community.
