LCH Expands Community Access to Specialty Care Through Vital Partnerships

Partnership with MAVEN Project provide timely specialty care

Kennett Square, Pennsylvania – April 2, 2025 – LCH Health and Community Services collaborates with likeminded organizations to ensure access to medical care for a wide range of needs. LCH has been in partnership with MAVEN Project since 2022 and leverages its custom-built technology platform to improve patient outcomes in Southern Chester County.

MAVEN Project provides virtual medical consultations, continuing medical education, and 1:1 mentoring for health centers that serve populations with limited access to specialty care. LCH providers connect with expert physician volunteers in consultation for patient cases which require a specialist’s input. MAVEN Project physician volunteers respond in a timely manner and explore symptoms, possible diagnoses, and suggested protocols with the LCH team. Through this partnership, LCH providers receive guidance that allows patients to receive vital care without delays.

“At MAVEN Project, our ultimate goal is ensuring that patients—regardless of income, insurance status, or zip code—receive the high-quality specialty care they need, when they need it. Our collaboration with LCH Health and Community Services exemplifies how timely access to expert medical guidance can change lives. Together, we are closing critical gaps in care and helping patients stay healthy in the communities they call home,” said Meredith Schanda, COO and Interim CEO of MAVEN Project.

LCH pediatric provider, Regan Pavlock, was recently recognized by MAVEN Project for engaging in a consult that resulted in expedited care for a patient of LCH Pediatrics in West Grove. When a 17-year-old patient’s lab results indicated a possible brain tumor, Pavlock submitted a consult with a MAVEN Project an expert physician volunteer.

“I had never contacted MAVEN for a patient,” shared Pavlock. “The symptoms indicated an urgent need for treatment, and I felt that an endocrinology consultation would help us expedite the patient’s access to care.”

Dr. Paul Kaplowitz, a pediatric endocrinologist, was able to confirm the provider’s concerns and recommend the next steps to receiving timely treatment. The patient, who was uninsured at the time, was accepted quickly for official diagnosis and the start of treatment. LCH continued supporting the patient with social services to obtain insurance, as well as primary care services.

“Resources like MAVEN Project allow our providers to support every patient with high-quality care,” said Ronan W. Gannon, CEO of LCH Health and Community Services. “The expert guidance we receive greatly benefits our health centers, patients, and overall community. Timely access to specialty care saves lives and improves health outcomes.”

LCH providers have seen the value of participating in MAVEN Project’s servicesand feel that it strengthens their care model. Following a consult with MAVEN volunteer physicians, LCH providers can often continue to manage patient care at an LCH health center. When these virtual consultations are appropriately employed treatment delays are avoided and patient outcomes are improved.

By collaborating with MAVEN Project and providing the many health services and resources integrated within its health centers, LCH continues to improve the health and well-being of individuals and families throughout Southern Chester County.
