Avon Grove School District Administrators Visit LCH for a Day of Service and Learning

School officials to learn about accessible community health resources
Kennett Square, Pennsylvania – June 10th, 2025 – LCH Health and Community Services (LCH) welcomed the Avon Grove School District Administrators to the West Grove Health Center for an interactive day of volunteering and creating resources for women and children in southern Chester County. The volunteer project was facilitated in partnership with the office of PA Representative Christina Sappey (158th District/Chester County) who helped gather donations in support of the effort.
The LCH West Grove campus is centrally located in the Avon Grove School District and is easily accessible to the families of the nearly 5,000 students who attend one of the four schools. The West Grove Health Center is in the Jenners Village Professional Building just off Route 796. In this location, LCH offers primary care, pediatric care, dental services, women’s health, behavioral health services, and social assistance.
“By partnering directly with the schools of many of our patient families, we can create stronger community resources,” said Ronan W. Gannon, CEO of LCH Health and Community Services.
During the visit, school administrators split their time between volunteering and touring the health center. The school officials assembled diaper bags for patients of the West Grove Women’s Health Center and for prospective pediatric patients and period care kits. On their tour, administrators learned more about how to refer student families to the dental, pediatric, primary care, women’s health, social assistance, and behavioral health services offered at the location.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with LCH in support of the families we serve,” noted Dr. Scott DeShong, Superintendent of Avon Grove School District. “By working together, we can help remove barriers to care and strengthen the support that allows students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”
Supplies for the diaper bags and kits were gathered and donated by the office of PA Representative Christina Sappey. Representative Sappey’s district includes the Avon Grove School District, as well as several townships and boroughs served by one or more locations of LCH. A member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 2019, Representative Sappey actively engages with LCH to support local families and improve access to health care.
“I am very grateful for the local community and Avon Grove School District’s support of our Expectant Families Supply Drive. Their generous donations and giving of their time mean baby care and menstrual hygiene products will be available to women. These are essential personal care items, and unfortunately, they are very high-priced items, so women frequently go without. The items collected in this drive mean young women won’t miss school because they have their period, and new moms and babies get a healthy start.” shared Rep. Sappey.
“These partnerships with school officials and elected representatives are great examples of the LCH mission in action,” noted Gannon. “Local leaders throughout the community understand that high quality, accessible healthcare and social services are essential to optimal health and wellness. Together, we’re improving health outcomes for local children, parents, and families.”
LCH is actively seeking to engage with business owners, school officials, and government leaders in the Southern Chester County region who want to learn more about supporting and improving community access to healthcare.
