Depression Treatment
-
What is depression?
Depression is a treatable medical condition, not a weakness or character flaw. It affects how you feel, think, and handle everyday activities, and it's more common than most people realize. In any given year, more than 21 million American adults experience a major depressive episode.
-
What are the symptoms?
Persistent sadness or emptiness, loss of interest in things you once enjoyed, changes in sleep or appetite, low energy, difficulty concentrating, feelings of hopelessness, and in some cases, thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
-
How does LCH help with this?
LCH provides depression treatment through individual therapy, integrated behavioral health visits alongside your primary care appointments, and psychiatric medication management. Our licensed therapists use evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help you build lasting strategies for managing depression.
Anxiety Treatment
-
What is anxiety?
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions in the United States, affecting more than 40 million adults. Anxiety goes beyond normal worry; it's persistent, intense, and can interfere with work, relationships, and daily life.
-
What are the symptoms?
Racing thoughts, a constant sense of dread or worry, trouble sleeping, muscle tension, irritability, panic attacks, difficulty concentrating, and avoiding situations that trigger fear or stress.
-
How does LCH help with this?
Our behavioral health team treats generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and related conditions through individual therapy and integrated care. We use CBT and other evidence-based methods to help you understand your anxiety and develop real tools to manage it, not just cope with it.
Substance Use Disorder Treatment
-
What is substance use disorder?
Substance use disorder (SUD), sometimes called "substance abuse disorder," is a chronic condition involving the continued use of alcohol, opioids, or other drugs despite serious consequences. It's not a moral failing, it's a medical condition that responds well to treatment.
-
What are the symptoms?
Difficulty cutting back or stopping use, needing more of a substance to feel the same effect, continued use despite problems at work or at home, withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and withdrawing from relationships and responsibilities.
-
How does LCH help with this?
LCH offers comprehensive substance use disorder treatment including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol use disorder, individual outpatient therapy, and integrated behavioral health support. Our bilingual team works with you at your pace, connecting care with your primary care provider for a total approach.
PTSD & Trauma Therapy
-
What is PTSD?
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, like accidents, violence, loss, or the accumulated stress of displacement and migration. PTSD is highly treatable, but many people go years without a diagnosis because symptoms are often mistaken for depression or anxiety.
-
What are the symptoms?
Flashbacks or intrusive memories, nightmares, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, avoiding reminders of the trauma, difficulty trusting others, irritability, and feeling disconnected from your life.
-
How does LCH help with this?
Our therapists provide evidence-based treatment for PTSD including trauma-focused therapy and medication management when appropriate. We offer a safe environment and guidance to help you heal at your own pace.

What does an integrated behavioral health visit look like?
- Brief (15-30 minutes)
- During a medical visit or scheduled separately
- Follow-up is only as needed (maybe only 2-3 times, or once a year)
- Collaboration with Primary Care Provider
- Screenings for & strategies to manage acute stressors, depression, anxiety, sleep difficulty, health management, etc.
Behavioral health professionals work alongside your primary care providers as part of your medical team.
Mental health doesn’t exist separately from physical health — and your care shouldn’t either. LCH’s Integrated Behavioral Health model embeds mental health support directly into your primary care visits, making it easier than ever to get the help you need without the stigma or hassle of a separate referral.
Integrated behavioral health is available at the Pia Center for Behavioral Health in West Grove and at our Kennett Square and Oxford health centers. If your primary care provider has a concern, they may ask you to spend a few extra minutes with a Behavioral Health Consultant — turning a routine visit into a moment that could change your life. Telehealth integrated appointments are also available for patients throughout Chester County and surrounding areas.
Outpatient Therapy in Chester County, PA
What does an outpatient therapy visit look like?
Licensed therapists provide treatment for a broad range of behavioral health conditions.
Sometimes you need more than a brief check-in — you need dedicated time to work through what you’re carrying. LCH’s licensed therapists provide individual outpatient therapy for a wide range of behavioral health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and trauma. We meet you where you are and help you build a path forward.
Outpatient therapy sessions are 50 minutes and scheduled as standalone appointments, separate from your medical visits. Your therapist will work with you to evaluate your needs and create a personalized treatment plan. Sessions can be weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on what works best for your situation. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, with evening hours on select days.
- Longer appointments (50 minutes)
- Scheduled as a separate visit
- Regular follow-up appointments (could be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. for several months)
- Collaboration with a provider
- Evaluation & treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, PTSD, etc.
Psychiatric Medication Management in Chester County, PA
What does a psychiatric medication management visit look like?
- Evaluation of behavioral health conditions
- Medication management
- Outpatient therapy visits
For many people, therapy works best when combined with medication. LCH primary care providers evaluate, prescribe, and manage psychiatric medications for conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and learning disabilities. We offer this for children, adolescents, and adults.
Medication management at LCH includes a full evaluation of your behavioral health condition, a collaborative conversation about treatment options, and ongoing monitoring to ensure your medication is working. Because medication management is a specialty level of care, patients who receive these services are also required to maintain regular outpatient therapy appointments — giving you both the biological and behavioral support needed for the best outcomes.
