Finding Peace with Pia

For nearly a decade, Joanna has trusted LCH with her and her family’s care. When her teenage daughter began facing emotional struggles, Joanna knew this time, it was her daughter’s turn to walk through LCH’s doors.

“I actually really like it here!” the teen, Lucy, shared. “My school recommended that I come to LCH because they noticed I needed help.”

Before coming to LCH, she had been seeing another therapist, but it wasn’t the right fit. “She would call my parents and tell them what I had told her. I didn’t like that,” Lucy recalled. Her mom added, “She didn’t look forward to going. Her behavior didn’t change. That’s when the school told me about LCH, and I brought her here.”

From the very beginning, there was a difference. The teen quickly connected with Marykate, her counselor at the Pia Center for Behavioral Health. “I felt a lot more relief talking to her and telling her what I go through. I feel a lot better getting advice and feel comfortable with her.”

Lucy had struggled with anger but with support and guidance, everything began to shift. “Her behavior has changed so much,” her mom said. “I’ve seen a huge change in her and that’s been very positive. I feel great knowing that she feels better.”

Thanks to the trusted care at LCH’s Pia Center, both mother and daughter are experiencing a new kind of peace, together. Today, the teen says she feels happier, and proud. “I feel better knowing I’ve changed and that people around me can see that too.”
