LCH opens new Women’s Health Center in Jennersville
For women who are pregnant, or those with health issues and no ability to pay for quality health care, there’s now somewhere to turn. LaComunidad Hispana, a nonprofit that provides health care to those who can least afford it, hosted a grand opening this week for its new Women’s Health Center, located in the Jennersville Professional Building. From women’s health appointments and screenings to prenatal care and behavioral health, the center expects to serve at least 1,000 patients this year.
“Women are the foundation of a healthy community,” said Alisa Jones, president and CEO of LaComunidad Hispana. “Preventing issues with pregnancy is important, and part of our mission is to enhance access for all women in this community, those who have health insurance, and those who don’t. It’s all based on the ability to pay, and we never turn away anyone if they can’t pay.”
Jones said the center will serve women with health issues, well-woman exams, family planning, prenatal care and postpartum care.
Jones said she is expecting 4,000 visits from women every year.
“This is just the beginning of better access to care for southern Chester County,” she said. “The Jennersville building is halfway between our highest needs areas of Oxford and Kennett Square, and there is room to grow our services in the building. This fall, we plan to move our Dental Center to the same building as its services in the community continue to grow and expand. We need to meet the community where they are.”
Catherine Domanska Elliott, women’s health director at LCH, said the facility has the latest technology, which will enable the highest level of health care.
“We now have a space to truly provide integrated care to the incredible women in this community,” Elliott said.
The Women’s Health Center is centrally located between Kennett and Oxford at 105 Vineyard Way Suite 200, West Grove.
LCH is a diverse, bilingual team that is dedicated to helping adults, teens, and children to be healthy and stay healthy. It is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center that supports whole-health change for all through health centers, social assistance services, and education and workforce development programs.
