Flu vaccine clinic, healthy program, coming to downtown Oxford

West Chester >> The Chester County Health Department, LCH Oxford Health Center, and Union Fire Company No.1 are partnering to promote health and safety during First Friday in downtown Oxford on Friday, Nov. 3. The event, which will be held at the fire company at 315 Market St., is open to the entire community, and no appointment is needed.

These organizations will be offering many fun and interactive wellness programs geared to the entire family. A flu vaccine clinic, fire safety activities, dental screening and a wellness check with the opportunity for individual consultations with an LCH primary care provider are just some of the planned events.

“We are excited to partner with our community agencies to support the health and well-being of the Oxford community,” said Jeanne Casner, director of the Chester County Health Department. “The Health Department promotes an annual flu vaccine for everyone six months and older as the best way to protect against flu, which can be a serious illness.”

The Health Department will have flu vaccine available for people as young as 6 months old, and a special high-dose vaccine for seniors. People with private health insurance should bring their insurance card for billing. The flu vaccine will be available at no charge to children with State Medical Insurance and for all people who do not have health insurance.

Staff from the LCH Health Center is excited to be a part of this program.

“There are so many barriers to quality health care. By meeting patients where they are through this program, we can care for people who may not receive any health care otherwise. We can establish a connection and a bridge to resources that will help to improve their overall health and wellness, and keep their families happy and healthy,” said LCH President and CEO Alisa Jones.

“I am excited to be a part of a larger community event for this outreach program”, said Dr. Ceppa, LCH Director of Primary Care. “We have had a lot of success in connecting with community members at their work-sites, and by participating in Oxford First Friday we can see even more people – we can make it a family activity.”
