Celebrate Community Health Centers with LCH

La Comunidad Hispana’s National Health Center Week Kick-off event with the National Institute of Health and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health: All of Us Journey Bus, free vision screenings, Zumba, face painting, family activities and giveaways.

In honor of National Health Center Week, La Comunidad Hispana (LCH) and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health will host the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Journey on Friday, August 10th,  2018. The traveling, hands-on exhibit raises

awareness about the All of Us Research Program, an ambitious effort to gather data from 1 million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health.

“We are excited to serve as a stop on the All of Us Journey as we Kick off National Health Center Week!  It is important that research includes underrepresented communities so that we, as a federally qualified health center, can be better informed about best practices for patients,” said Alisa M. Jones, CEO of LCH. “Too often the Hispanic population and other underrepresented groups are left out of major research which is a major disadvantage to the community and those that serve them. This is why we welcome all community members to learn more about the All of Us Journey program and join us on Friday afternoon.”

All of Us is so important to shaping the future of health in the United States,” said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the nation’s leading Hispanic health advocacy group. “This research program will bring together communities throughout the United States to drive new discoveries, which may lead to earlier disease identification, more precise treatment solutions and better health outcomes for all in the future.”

In addition to the All of Us Journey bus activity, LCH will have several free activities for families, including free vision screenings, Zumba, face painting, and giveaways.  “This is such an important week as a community health center,” said Ronan Gannon, Chair of LCH’s board of directors. “America’s health centers serve over 27 million people across the country in over 10,000 communities. LCH is so proud to contribute to the greater impact of quality care that we can provide in southern Chester County.”
